Shoppers were busier than ever, juggling work, family, and daily tasks, and traditional shopping methods no longer fit their fast-paced lives and needed faster, more flexible options. While mobile apps were helpful, they still required screens, taps, and time. The retailer saw a critical opportunity to lead the next wave: by making grocery shopping as simple as speaking. That’s when they turned to Rapidops to reimagine the experience with an AI-powered voice assistant. It enabled effortless list management, product discovery, and checkout across multiple devices without lifting a finger.

Enabling Natural Conversations

We strived to build a voice assistant that feels as natural as a casual conversation between two people. Hence, the assistant needs to understand the spoken language and converse within context. To design the interactions, we mapped out the end-to-end shopping journey as a series of natural conversations that a customer would expect to have with a person.

We found that variants, words, tones, and commands differed between user personas, and we built our research into a trained NLP service. The result was astonishingly delightful, natural two-way interactions filled with context, intelligence, and human touch.

The voice assistant was built in such a way that it can seamlessly be integrated with the retailer's existing and core systems, facilitating real-time inventory checks, personalized recommendations, and streamlined order processing.
